What Is a LOLER Inspection?
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) require lifting equipment to be thoroughly examined at appropriate intervals by a competent person.
For equipment used to lift people, a thorough examination is generally required at least every six months unless a competent person has determined a different examination interval based on a written scheme of examination.
A LOLER examination is designed to identify defects or deterioration that could present a risk to people using or operating the equipment.
